Andreea N. Simulescu is a lawyer and arbitrator with more than 24 years of experience in private and public law – civil and commercial law, insolvency, public procurement, civil and administrative contracts. She is recognized as a specialist in arbitration, particularly in construction law disputes, with a solid expertise in FIDIC contracts and dispute resolution through Dispute Adjudication Boards (DAB), acting as a lawyer, arbitrator and adjudicator.
Throughout her career, Andreea has been involved in more than 50 commercial arbitration cases, both as lawyer and arbitrator, under various rules (CICA-CCIR, ICC Paris and UNCITRAL). He has handled complex international construction disputes, including on the basis of FIDIC contracts, in insolvency matters, dealing with issues such as the impact of insolvency in arbitral proceedings as well as commercial matters. Her experience also includes providing strategic legal advice in these areas.
Andreea is an appointed arbitrator under the Rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and is listed on the rosters of several arbitration centers, such as the Court of International Commercial Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CICA-CCIR), the Court of Commercial Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brasov and the Georgian Dispute Resolution Center. She is also a registered international arbitration practitioner at the Vienna International Arbitral Center (VIAC).
She is a graduate of the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Central and Eastern Europe, an advanced training program dedicated to experienced arbitration practitioners who wish to advance their career as arbitrators. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and ArbCEE member, contributing to the promotion of arbitration in Central and Eastern Europe.
Her professional work has been internationally recognized, being included in the Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) – Future Leader in Arbitration (Partner section) in 2022 and 2023, and Recommended in the Arbitration 2024 and 2025 category. She was named Lawyer of the Year in Arbitration by Lawyer Monthly – Legal Awards in 2022.
Andreea has published various articles as author and co-author and has participated as a speaker at several conferences in the field of arbitration and FIDIC contracts.
She is a member of the team of lawyers representing Romania in complex investment arbitration cases subject to the ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules, contributing to the resolution of disputes of international scope.
Starting with December 2024, Andreea is CIArb Approved Faculty Member as Tutor for Module 1 in International Arbitration.
