Crenguța LEAUA has over 20 years of experience in the legal field, specializing in international commercial and investment arbitration, international commercial law and new technology law. She assisted clients in cases before several international arbitral institutions – ICSID, ICC Paris, VIAC Vienna, WIPO, various national arbitration centers, etc. She has been featured in “Who’s Who Legal” as a global leader in international arbitration in all editions since 2007 as well as in Thought Leaders (Global Arbitration Review, annually, 2017 to present).
Crenguța LEAUA has extensive experience as an arbitrator in over 130 cases, most of them before the ICC International Court of Arbitration Paris, the London Court of International Arbitration LCIA and the International Commercial Arbitration Court of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as ad-hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL rules. She is included on the lists of arbitrators of numerous arbitration centres, such as the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Poland, Moldova, the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the World International Property Organisation (WIPO), the International Arbitration Centre of the Federal Chamber for Economy of Austria (VIAC), the arbitration centres in Beijing (CIETAC), Shanghai, Shenzen, Singapore și Kuala Lumpur.
She was a vice-president of the International Court of Arbitration – ICC Paris (2015-2018) and a member of the Court ( 2012-2014) and currently is a member of the ICC Commision on Arbitration. She is a past vice-president of the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania.
She is a doctoral supervisor of the Doctoral School of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, she holds a PhD from the Faculty of Law – University of Bucharest and has two bachelor degrees from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Iasi) and Lucian Blaga University (Sibiu). She is an alumnus of the Future Leaders executive education program of Harvard University – John F. Kennedy School of Government and of the specialization courses in technologies and disruptive economic models and cryptocurrencies at the London School of Economics.
She is a professor with the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest (Comparative law of international commercial arbitration, business law and law of communications and new technologies). She was an associate lecturer (Comparative Law of International Arbitration and Construction Arbitration) in the International Arbitration Master Program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, visiting scholar at Columbia Law School (New York) and invited to lecture at Science Po (Paris), and at several universities in the United States: Georgetown Law (Washington, D.C.), Columbia Law School (New York), Washburn University (Kansas), Arizona State University (Arizona), Florida International University (Miami).
She has authored and co-authored four books and over 50 articles, studies and commentaries published in renowned law reviews, prevalently in the field of international commercial arbitration, business law and intellectual property law. She is one of the two editor of Arbitration in Romania. A practitioner’s Guide, the first monograph on arbitration in Romania, published by Kluwer International (2016). She is a member of numerous international research teams on comparative law issues and has presented at over 30 international conferences on arbitration and business law.
She is fluent in English and French, an intermediate-level user of Italian and has basic knowledge of German.
